A Tribal Masterpiece: The Shiraz Rug
This magnificent Shiraz rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of nomadic art. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1 cm. The artisanal weaving technique gives the pile a robust appearance and a rich texture.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant lacquer red, characterized by a fascinating abrash effect, which testifies to the natural dyeing of the yarns. At its heart, a large lozenge medallion stands out, filled with stylized geometric motifs and set against an intense midnight blue. This medallion is surrounded by an all-over design of small geometric motifs, stylized stars, and animal figures such as birds and camels, harmoniously distributed across the entire red field.
The field's corners feature dark blue spandrels that echo the central medallion. The rug is framed by a series of borders, including a main one in midnight blue adorned with stylized motifs and an outer one in cream, enriched with compartments featuring geometric designs and other stylized figures. The richness of detail and the vibrancy of colors make this Shiraz a unique work of art, capable of imparting warmth and an exotic atmosphere to any environment.
